Ok, so baisically on friday my letter from Walsall for my interview come for the 3rd time (haha yeah, im long, everyone around me has learnt to either adapt to that fact or piss off but i have reasons 1st time i cancelled as nature took over, 2nd time they sent me for my initial assesment and when i went to reception and they called the woman for my interview the woman decided not to answer her phone, grrr!! Hopefully 3rd time lucky though.) anyhow yeah, so i've set myself a 3-day challenge to make a party dress for my interview.
So i've started today, today being sunday the 20th and ive cut my patterns, sewn the skirt together, added a bubble hem, cut a pattern for a one shoulder top, sewn that together (skirt and top with lining may i add) and now i've kinda left it with about 10 pins in and half the skirt and half the top attached to each other. All i need to do now is add a waistband, sew the other halves together, attach a zip and my party dress is complete.
Btw, kudo's to myself, as i've never had a pattern cutting lesson in my life, nor do i own a pattern cutting book, its basic observation of one garment and my not-always-functional head. im quite proud you see.
Ill post pictures when its finshed, and if i can be arsed to be extra it'll probably be modeled by some bootleg model en-all. :)
I've now realised today, that unless your in some big business designer chain house (Chanel, H&m, Harvey Nichols etc) then fashion design really is 80% do-it-yourself and 20% showcasing/networking as big chain houses have people to make AND design their clothes for them.
Speaking of showcasing, i've totally brushed aside the fact that i have a no-less-than-12 piece collection to start designing and planning out for an upcoming fashion show/fund raising event. LONGG.
