Sex, eroticism, nudity that's all that seems to cover the media these days, its hard to differentiate a pop star and a porn star, you can't see an advert for jeans, hair, shoes without a naked body complimenting them and i just have to ask myself is this what has become of the industry?
When the fuck did this all happen? Because ten years ago the most you would see was a midriff and bare legs unless it was underwear you were promoting.Back in the 60's all pin up girl had voluptuous curvy temples but you would NEVER see a woman with her breasts out. Now all of a sudden come the new millennium its not considered normal to see fully clothed men or woman.
Voila! i present to you the revolution of the new millennium. Computer editing software. We now live in a world where we are forced to believe that 'ugly duckings' no longer exist and only 'beautiful swans' are accepted on earth. As shallow and naive as that may sound its true.
This is a generation where nothing is as it seems, ignorance is most certainly bliss. Every model has flawless skin, a symmetrical face, a never ending set of legs, perfect hair, the flattest stomach, the most toned body, perfectly shaped bosoms, pert bottoms, long eyelashes and it doesn't matter how skinny they may be, they have these hourglass figures. This is simply just NOT POSSIBLE! Men have a constant image of the 'woman of their dreams' because that's all she is, a fantasy. Something that does not, nor never will exist. Yes you may see someone who comes close but we can't have it all.
Photoshop, adobe, Macromedia have all given the world false hope and now the number of eating disorders, plastic surgery and psychological illnesses have soared in the past ten years, some blame the media, some blame parenting, i blame the false bravado of editing software.
So is this why its OK for nudity and sex to be plastered everywhere we go now? Because of the fact that the images are molded to perfection, its now considered as something classy and beautiful? If that's the case, why do we accept these men and women into everyday society, but when a woman is promiscuous she is considered as foul and therefore out caste? Are we not contradicting ourselves? Its OK to use sex to sell, but when sex is actually put into practice what exactly happens?
The media is fast changing our understanding of what is appropriate and controversial and it seems like nowadays there is no difference between being nude and fully clothed. The media has seriously thrown my head into directions, and as much as I'm down for baring ounces of flesh come summer or winter, I'm still for the whole some things are best left to the imagination...
